Project Overview

Artisan Alley is an e-commerce platform that connects local artisans with clients. The platform was designed to enable artisans to showcase their handmade goods, while offering an easy-to-use shopping experience for customers.

Problem Statement

Local artisans often struggle to reach a larger market due to lack of resources, limited access to technology, and difficulty in setting up professional e-commerce stores. Traditional markets are also becoming increasingly less viable for small-scale sellers.

Solution

Artisan Alley provides an online platform that empowers artisans to create and manage their own virtual shops, where they can display their products, handle transactions securely, and interact with customers. The design focused on simplicity and ease of use, allowing artisans with limited technical skills to manage their stores effectively.

Design Process

Empathize

Conducted interviews with local artisans to understand their challenges in selling products online.

Define

Identified the need for a platform that was both easy to use and aesthetically appealing to users.

Ideate

Brainstormed features like simple product pages, secure checkout, and easy inventory management.

Prototype

Test

Conducted usability testing with artisans and users to refine the platform’s functionality and design.

Impact

Increased the sales volume for artisans by 50% within 3 months of launch.

Improved visibility for over 100 local artisans who previously lacked an online presence.

Enabled 30% of artisans to expand their customer base internationally.
